Interview with Ross & The Wrongens – October 2009

We’re loving the name… so are you ‘Wrongens’?
Nils : Definitely you can’t get much wronger than us
Sam : Hell yer…. Well Ross is definitely, despite not being labeled as one in the our name.
Ross : yeah cheers!….err try not to be…but you know how it goes….

If you could tour with anyone, who would it be?
Nils : Girls aloud would be fun, would be brilliant to me meet Cheryl, she’s fucking fit. The others aren’t bad either.
Sam : As I’m listening to them now….Radiohead.
Ross : it would have to be the babyshambles…what a nightmare that would be….i like nightmares….

Do you have a favourite Brighton band?
Nils : Blood Red Shoes.
Sam : Dollface
Ross : hmmmm…i’m gonna say the third man…

You have only been together since the beginning of the year, but you have seen some great successes, what has been your best experience so far?
Nils : Going to northern Ireland was a laugh, the Guinness tastes so much better there.
Sam : Err, its hard to say really…..We’ve been to some great places but you just cant beat the feeling when everything clicks on set; like on monday night in TW forum venue. Was champion!
Ross : ireland was phat but for me when i caught people i didn’t know sing the words at our gigs….nice x

How did you guys come together as a band?
Nils : I don’t really know I kind of got dragged in a bit later than the others so I missed the birth of the wrongens.
Sam : Well Ross is a bit of a slag when it comes to musicians really, coz the old wrongens were made up of several members of different bands from our local area.The me and billy came along jizzed on their faces….shortly followed by nils.
Ross : i tracked them down…every last one of them…lol..

Do any of you have bad habits that annoy the other band members?
Nils : Sam falls asleep in band practises but we let him off as hes narcoleptic
Sam : Me definitely(Sam Cox-Drums), the boys hate it when I knock up a greenie, which is on quite a regular basis Sorry lads.
Ross : Sams got to many to mention….soz sam x

Who do you sound like?
Nils : We sound like wrongens
Sam : Nott that question again…..
Ross : we sound like…..

Worst gig ever…?
Nils : Probably at the tap ‘n’ tin when we played first then left with the entire backline, the other bands were not very happy.
Sam : First gig with Nils definitely! wasnt his fault though; our bass player at the time as a nincanpoop that night and couldnt do it so we called Nilly up last minute and lets just say it was very improvised. The worst bit was when we left with OUR bass amp that the last band wanted to use and they announced over the mic as we left how much they were unhappy with us.
Ross : made to feel like a bell end when their was nothing we could do at the tap n tin…nils first gig…

Which track do you love to performing and why?
Nils : I quite like make you right, the groove is pretty cool.
Sam : They all have their individual qualities which makes it really hard to choose….. ‘Make you right’ has to be way up there coz it gives me tingles when ever we play it, the dynamics and what not all add to its lovelyness. but then again ‘You’ is glorious when its played right; it has such a great melody from ross and a phat solo from billy which makes my head bang.
Ross : all of them….

A question from Kid British – If you could have a drink with a dead musician who would it be?
Nils : Kurt
Sam : Ooo this is a good question!! A drink with for social reasons-Hendrix, a drink with on the hope of a session-Miles Davis.
Ross : keith moon…no question….like a drink…
