Stag & Dagger

Stag & Dagger - review

When: May 15th 2008
Where: Various venues, Shoreditch, London
Cost: £14

As the venues were booked and the line up confirmed, there were two (of many) music lovers who were holding their breath for this great event to begin.

And once it did, Shoreditch was banging from Brick Lane to Hoxton. Venues included 93 Feet East, Bar Music Hall, Cargo and the Electricity Showrooms to name but a few.

With more than 100 events and 30 venues it was a shame we couldn’t get round them all.

First stop, 93 Feet East, where we stumbled in and stumbled upon THE DISPLACEMENTS. They rocked the crowd. Leaving us gagging for more and the venue heaving. So we move on to CHEEKY CHEEKY AND THE NOISE BLEEDS. And cheeky, cheeky they are. Great music, great performance. Not a nosebleed in sight from what we could tell but still great all the same.

Feeling we really should explore more than one venue we stagger up the road towards Bar Music Hall for PRIMARY 1. An absolute highlight of the night with their funky electro anthems and musical versatility. Thank you Primary 1, you were the delight of that night.

Finally, The Shoes. A superb French electro duo. If the crowd was flaking they certainly picked everyone up. What a great way to end a great night.
