Where: Eastnor Castle, Hertfordshire

I don’t know what you guys were doing at the ‘big chill weekender’ , but I most definitely went down to the woods to play. Set in Eastnor castle the backdrop in draw droopingly beautiful. I bumbled down the hill with my back pack ready for a weekend of fun and immediately my senses were met with a whiff of vegetarian curry, but immediately also dismayed by the OTT security guards that prized my booze of me like a new born baby from it’s mother, bummer!!

The pain of this separation didn’t last long as the Winnie the poo type settings lifted my spirits (much like the guards)! and I saw a vision. No this was not the second coming this was the newly crowned Annie Nightingale, parting the clouds, systematically throwing down breaks… Big Chill I have landed.

Rizzla Stage - “Anne Nightingale Queen of Breaks” -bounce bounce bounce all around I am a Duracell bunny, Rizzla stage is a new addition to the chill, was Hawaiian theme was rammed with “Butt Shaking “ bodies, Really kicked off the weekend.

Club Tent - “Roots Manuva” - “witness the fitness “ hip hop/dub/electronica. Many many classic old tunes warm up the crowed with Rodney Smith distinctive voice, always a good foot shaker.

Castle Stage - “Little Dragon” beautiful eclectic with a dash of hard pop Little Dragon was a happy find at the chill, petit lead singer entranced the audience with the engulfing views of the castle grounds. The lead singer Yukimi radiant and powerful vocals.

Castle Stage - “The Orb” phrase as the “ granddaddies of ambient house’ hedonistic waves have warmed raver's of the whole for many years, they bring a truly unique and blissful sounds that go hand in hand with any sunrise, while ravers wobble about. The true gods of Ambient House.

Open Air Stage - “Hot 8 Brass Band” Can I just say “Sexual Healing” the legendary renowned Hot 8 Brass Band coming from the home of New Orleans bring there truly wonder up beat music Soul, Jazz & Gospel influenced music with the most incredible cover of Sexual Healing by Marvin Gay, made whole crowed shake there ass, joyful smiles in the Big Chill Sunshine I would not want to be any where else right now.

Main Stage - “The Mighty Boosh”:
A preview warm up to Mighty Boosh sounds exciting, filled with promise of humour (its Noel Fielding little brother /sister hard to tell with the all in one leotard?) & fun what a let down, this set to warm us up for the Boosh was an abomination to the Boosh family, badly mixed set with songs literally stopping and the new one starting was poor, with shouting taunts from DJ demanding us to move. How we where all relieved when the legendary Boosh step on stage Howard and Noel we love you. With classic moon and eel catcher to amuse us and many more strange and wonderful characters, it’s not for the faint hearted but practaly loved by all, as the boosh hits cult statues.

Open Air stage - “ Tom Middleton” -house classic early 80’s 90’ as the crowds started to disperse from The Boosh, an over whelming introduction for Tom Middleton, so I could here glimmers of “what that.. ...cant quite hear ……ow my god it Moby “Go” with a mad mixture of old school rave images flooded the screen we have stepped back into the late 1980’s early 1990’s Acid House, The whole crowed retreated back to the stage and everyone when for it. This man is a genius I had needed the loo for a good 2 hours before he started his set, and I could not leave my dancing position to the very end with classic like Candy Staton "You got the Love", "Show me Love" by Robin F, Bizarre Ink - "Playing with Nights", Moby Go - Acid House, this was the high light of the chill for me. I loved it!!

Castle Stage - “Mr Scruff” is one of the pinnacles of the festival like a rich tea biscuit with your cuppa, me is a must. Happy joyful beats makes the crowed bop like around like at s kid party, Mr scruff is an institution at the Big Chill with playful illustrative visuals of baked bean shaped people mixed with funky jazz is always a hit.

Club tent - “Asian Dub Sound System DJ Set” - percussion badgering over the beats was an uplifting and just hard ass dance set.

Open-air stage - headlined The Bays and The Heritage Orchestra :
The Sunday of the Chill was blessed by the quirky yet inspirational bays mix with heritage orchestra Improvisation eclectic mix of new sounds. Strings and hones section meet keyboards, electronic, base and drums. All manners of club styles, Bay sets are unique and different every time. This was a perfect way to see out The Big Chill.

God only 365 days to go to the next chill what will I do!!
